SESSIONS
An art therapy session usually has three parts:
1. Introduction: a space to share whatever the person wants that day —something that worries them, excites them, or is simply on their mind.
2. Creation: time to express yourself through art , using your preferred materials. No drawing skills or experience are necessary; if you don't know where to begin, I will gently guide you through the creative process.
3. Reflection: Finally, we look at the artwork together and consider what it might represent. Sometimes the images speak for themselves; other times they help to put into words what was previously difficult to express.
WORKSHOPS
An art therapy workshop can have different objectives, but they all share the intention of offering a hands-on experience that allows participants to learn firsthand how art therapy works. The aim is not to delve as deeply as in traditional therapy.
The workshops usually include guided activities around a specific theme —for example, self-exploration, emotions, change, the body or identity—, generating a space for creation, reflection and group connection.
They can be one or several sessions, depending on the needs and interests of the group.
Here you can take a look at a previous workshop designed for social workers: "Caring for the Caregivers."
